In today’s podcast episode, we reflect on things that the pandemic has taught us concerning our sleeping habits. The pandemic changed the dynamic of normal daily & nightly routines. Disrupted routines cause disrupted sleep patterns. Studies have shown that there has been an increase in worldwide pandemic- induced insomnia.
- Well Beauty Tip of the Week: Take time to breathe deeply. Inhale deep. Release & exhale.
- It is important to create a routine that balances the day to help you keep track of time. It is also equally important to develop a set bedtime routine to ensure that you're getting adequate sleep.
- Try to avoid electronic usage 30 minutes before bedtime. Do the things that help you relax before bedtime such as reading, taking a hot shower, yoga, prayer & meditation etc. Also consider setting room temperatures cooler, as this can also help to induce sleep.
- Other factors that induce sleep: Getting more time outdoors because sunlight allows the body to know what time of day it is. At bedtime, separate your space so that the bedroom is just for sleeping and you aren't eating and working in bed. Lastly, be sure to maintain exercise as this also helps support healthy rest.
